What does this resume checker actually do?
It reads the text in your uploaded resume and checks it against eight things that ATS software and recruiters commonly look for — contact details, a summary, skills, work history, education, action verbs, measurable results, and overall length. You'll get a score out of 100 and a short note on each item.
What counts as a "good" ATS score?
As a general guide, a score of 80 or higher means your resume covers the basics an ATS looks for. To get there, aim for:
- Consistent formatting with no tables, text boxes, or graphics
- Keywords and phrases pulled from the job description
- Standard section headings like "Work History," "Skills," and "Education"
- Bullet points for your experience, with measurable results where possible
What file format should I upload?
PDF is usually the safest choice, since it keeps your formatting consistent across devices and most modern ATS platforms can read it cleanly. Some employers ask for a Word (.docx) file specifically — check the job posting, and use that format if it's stated.
Is my resume stored anywhere?
No. The file is read directly in your browser and never leaves your device — nothing is uploaded to a server or saved by SNDS CareerKit. You can run the check as many times as you like.
What if my resume scores low?
